Grammar-phobes, help is here. The Chicago Manual of Style has put their resource guide online.
They have an online tutorial for submitting a manuscript electronically, and if you’ve ever had an editor send back a story with their edits marked by signs and symbols you couldn’t understand, check out the CMS’s visual chart of proofreeding definitions.
There are additional tools on the website, but the idea is for you to buy a year long subscription. The cost is $25 (after first year it goes up to $30) with group discounts available. While the print manual has become a bible for every author/publisher’s desk – no doubt the online version will soon become an indispensible resource web-dependent writers.
