Sorry for the delay in posts and for not telling you sooner that I'd be on hiatus. I was packing up my belongings in SF like a mad woman. Trip after trip to the storage unit, but I’m quite pleased that it’s almost all together. Then I went up to Portland for a big party at BootsnAll. We were blogging about it and people were writing in from Antarctica, Brazil, Australia, and Paris! I’ve been so close to the ringleaders of BnA that I spend lots of time talking to them about our day to day lives. The party was an enormous reminder of why I thought they were the best way back when I first met them. It is completely mindblowing to see the community that they are building, and that their site is an outlet for people to live out their travel dreams and share them with others. The energy in that place, as you might be able to sort of grasp from the blog, was as up as in any place I’ve ever been. Excellent job, guys! And Sean, just plain, wow.

Then I drove back to the Bay Area with Philip Blazdell, guest of honor. It was a great road trip, wonderful to introduce him to In-N-Out, and he played a crucial role in making sure I was awake and in the correct lanes for the last difficult post midnight hour.

With the rest of my Bay Area stuff in storage, I’m now down in San Diego for the holidays. My brother was already getting after me for no blog posts. So, sorry all.
I guess in the hiatus he started doing some google searches on Sand and found out that there are several unhappy customers at Barnes and Noble. I tried looking for the grumpy reviews he was talking about, and couldn’t find any. Either they were deleted or, maybe it was from a different company. Jason, give us the link if you can find it again. I like to hear about the negative side too. Speaking of, we had more than 200 returns last month. Not good, but not overly awful.

I’ll be here for a week and a half. Blogging might be spotting but with my brother and uncle reading every day I’ll have to keep at it so they stay off my back while I’m in town. 🙂 One thing I’m looking forward to is seeing Jim Benning of World Hum. He and his wife Leslie recently moved down here and this is one of the first times I’ll be visiting with friends in San Diego that have nothing to do with my high school life.
