Travel Writer and Editor Michael Luongo, who we interviewed at Written Road last April, will be holding several travel writing workshops in the coming months:

New York University’s Global Traveler Writing Class
When: Saturdays March 8 and March 15, 10am to 4pm
Where: New York University
How Much: $385
Luongo’s Global Traveler writing class is aimed at those wanting to learn more about the travel writing field and who want to start travel memoir projects. The class is open to anyone – you don’t have to be an NYU student. Will cover the basics of the travel writing industry and also work on the skills needed to create travelogues and full length travel memoirs. The class is ideal for people who have lived abroad and want to write about their experiences.

Il Chiostro Travel Writing in Tuscany
When: May 10 to 17th
Where: Tuscany Italy
How Much: $1,695
Luongo will be teaching travel writing for the Il Chiostro program where every day will be packed with writing intensives in a rural farmhouse near Siena and Florence. You’ll spend a full day together in Siena where you will learn to become a better travel writer by taking notes, conducting interviews, finding the special touches that make a destination unique and worth writing about – looking at Italy’s culture and people with a critical, discerning eye. When you’re done with the class, you will have the skills to launch projects of your own to break into the travel writing business.
