StanfordsI stumbled upon the website of British map and bookseller Stanfords, which Jen mentioned in 2002. There are a few handy features on their site worth pointing out:

They’ve organized their travel books into categories: Anthologies, How to be a Travel Writer, Literary Guides, and a Classics section with an interesting (although not comprehensive) author list to click through. (These titles are currently discounted for purchase online through the end of May, but I gather only an advantage if you live in the UK.)

You can also search their catalogue by destination, drilling down from continent to targeted countries, regions and cities, which is a useful tool for locating specific maps and guides from their selection.

Originally established in 1853 by Edward Stanford, map seller, they now sell maps and travel books at stores in Bristol, Manchester and London. Upcoming events are listed here.
