It’s Book Passage time! Every third week in August, travel writers convene Thursday – Sunday at the Book Passage Travel Writers and Photographers Conference. Writers/photographers serious about breaking into newspapers and magazines spend $635 each for all day classes and panels, and then have drinks at the night with the likes of Tim Cahill, Don George, Larry Habegger, Alison Wright, John Flinn, and so many more. There is a lot of faculty-student interaction and you can have one-on-one consultations for a reasonable extra fee.

Everyone’s favorite, Tim Cahill speaks with Peter Stark on Thursday night, and Patricia Schultz, author of 1,000 Places to See Before You Die speaks on Friday. So check out the whole schedule and get your butt over there in the evenings if you’re not already signed up as an attendee.

When: Aug. 18-21, 2005
Location: Book Passage 51 Tamal Vista Blvd Corte Madera, CA 94925

I’m on the faculty this year and excited about going as much as any of the other years. For those friends of mine who were looking forward to meeting the boyfriend, he won’t be there. Work called him in a different direction late in the game. But I’ll be there and thrilled to see you. Seriously, it is always a great time, and it feels like summer camp for travel writers. If you’ve never been, come over!

  1. Looking forward to it. I’ve been hearing nothing but great things about it, and decided to attend sort of last-minute (barely made the consultation deadline–whew!)

This one time, at travel writer’s camp…

    See you then!
