As of today I’ve started blogging for new travel community and website, Planet Eye. I have been appointed their Madrid local expert and have to review places, gives lists of things to do and places to see, give insight on cultural customs etc.

I decided to write for them because I liked the site, they looked to be well set up (they sent me a creative brief of what’s expected and a tutorial on the publishing tool I have to use), and they were very professional as well as friendly with me in our communication. Also, it’s a fun blogging position as I can write anything I want to about a city that I live in and love.

They are still looking for local experts in a number of cities: Las Vegas, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Amsterdam, Berlin, Mumbai, Paris, Seattle, Vienna and Moscow — and are also open to more city suggestions should you have them.

For a minimum of 2-3 posts a week, they pay $250 a month. Not great money but not bad at all. For more information check out this page and you can apply here.

They are also on the look out for photographers. For more info on that write them at: info {at} planeteye(.)com.

  1. I’m a total newbie – is that a going rate for a travel writer? I would be looking for a one or two myself – what is the best way to start? Thanks for all the help.
