ForeWord Magazine, a bi-monthly publication dedicated to reviewing books from independent publishers, announced their 2004 book awards yesterday at BEA. Big congratulations to these award winners:

Simon Winchester for The Meaning of Everything, Oxford University Press, Gold award in the History category

Thomas Swick, A Way to See the World, The Lyons Press, Silver Award in the Travel Essay category

Travelers’ Tales for A Woman’s Path, Gold Award in the Mind,Body, Spirit category

Travelers’ Tales, for Hyenas Laughed At Me and Now I Know Why, Gold Award in the Humor category

    And yes folks, Path is one of my favorite Travelers’ Tales books. The book is about the fullness of life as much as it is about travel. To hear true stories of awakening on the road is humbling.
