Here’s some news I noticed in ForeWord Magazine about events at this week’s Book Expo of America:

The Travel Publishers Association will be giving away its entire display of travel titles after the show. More than 50 travel publishers will have titles exhibited. A drawing from business cards left at the booth during the show will be made after the show is over, and the books will be sent to the lucky winner.

Lonely Planet will launch a national campaign to motivate Americans to get their passport with a new book, Don’t Let the World Pass You By! 52 Reasons to Have a Passport (set for release in September, 2005). They will also celebrate their new Caribbean titles with special music and drinks on Saturday, June 4 at 5 pm.

(BTW, I finally found info about the Experimental Travel book on the LP website.)

If you are planning on attending BEA, here’s a link to the list of travel/outdoor recreation exhibitors as of this morning. If you know of any other travel publishing events taking place at the Expo that may be of interest to WR readers, let us know in the comments or via email.

  1. I won’t be there this year, but Larry Habegger from Travelers’ Tales will be meeting with people as he’s there for his Coliseum Books event.

  2. I’ll be autographing Job Hopper (giving it away from FREE!) at the avalon publishing group booth, today, Saturday, from 3 to 4. the booth is located near the main entrance. looks like there’s a big old stack of No Touch Monkeys too…

Jen, yesterday I snagged Greg a Ricky Jay book about dice. if I come across another copy, I’ll send it to you! I was just studying craps terms for a Bust magazine column on Inky eating dice as a tot. My favorites Llittle Joe From Kokomo (two twos), Ozzie and Harriet (a pair of squares – two fours) and Nina at the Marina (a nine)
