In doing that last post on Jonathan Raban, I discovered that the Third Place Books website shows how many books are in stock on the catalog page. And from my history of being on several indie bookstore websites (setting up events), I know that some of the websites have a similar format. I think they are all a part of BookSense. So, I went to some other bookstore sites that I thought might run on the same system. Sure enough, they’re doing it, too!

Here are my numbers and those of some WR fans who might be curious.

(OK, so obviously they’re not playing like the rest of the stores)

Book Stall at Chesnut Court had the same as above.

Here are some great stores that didn’t have this feature/ or weren’t using it:
Harry Schwartz
The Savvy Traveller
A Clean Well Lighted Place For Books
Capitola Book Cafe
Wide World Books and Maps
Northern Lights Books & Gifts
Big Hat Books

Sorry folks, this is all I had time to look up. If you have a fave BookSense store near you, tell me the name and I’ll look it up.

  1. Bummer. My Irreverent Guide to WDW is “1-5 days” at all of those except the Tattered Cover [have to remember to mail them a thank you]. Thanks for the links! =)

  2. Michelle, happy to help. In addition to the thank you, I’d suggest an inquiry with your northwest sales reps via Frommers. Has it been easy to work with Frommers? It’s obviously not in good taste to ask for the sales reps name and yell at them, but you could ask them who covers the northwest and how they sell in to that market. Let them know what you found and ask if this is common for your type of guidebook and if there is anything you can to better sales in that area.

And the good news is that maybe your book is all sold out and in between printer runs! Wouldn’t that be great? 🙂

Oh, and I was a dunce. I didn’t know what WDW was. Michelle’s book is the Frommer’s Irreverent Guide to Walk Disney World. The cover is great!
