I’m so glad that USA Today told me.

I bet Shawn Sell sure had fun on that assignment!

Susan will be here. Maybe we’ll go out and rustle some up. Syrup, jam, powdered sugar? I’m doubtful that Belgium can do as good of a job with pancakes as Australia does. THEY put ice cream on top!

Ok, so this is VERY off-topic, but hey. Happy Sunday.

  1. Thanks, Mary! We went to Brussels today. One day of walking and Susan thought it’d be best if we rented a car, and I was too lazy to say no.

Her driving has been amazing! Quite agressive, and she’s happy that I don’t flinch as much in this little Mercedes as I do in the super huge Suburban she drives at home. I am now Map girl, and somewhere, somehow, I’ve gotten much better at them. I might owe it all to Chris O’Neill.

So, we saw plenty in Brussels today, the Grand Place, the Mannekin Pis, the Grand Sablon where she made a dent in her chocolate shopping, and lunch. I had a huge fish salad, she something that looked like raw hamburger meat, and we were too full for the pancakes. But it’s a week long celebration!

Now we’re home, just bought fresh bread and cheese, and already have the wine poured.

    Tomorrow…Bruge.

  2. I can just see the two of you tooling around in the Mercedes inhaling culture, pancakes, wine and chocolate. Have lots of fun…and get some rest too. All is well back here in sunny SF, another rain storm predicted for tomorrow.

  3. Susan is the road Queen. That’s all I have to say. She’s running up the spedometer like it’s nobody’s business, parallel parking like she invented it, and stocking up on chocolate like it was water before the millennium.

I’m pretty lucky she came over to spend some time with me. It’s colder than it has been since last year (it seems), it snowed last night and was on the car and local roads today, and she HATES the cold! Thank heavens Belgium has chocolate.

  4. Just give me a Mercedes and an open road and I’m flyin. Jen has been a great navigator, getting us to Brussels and Bruges, as well as finding the best chocolate shops. One more stop – Antwerp – and then I give up the high life. It’s back to San Francisco and trying to find a parking spot big enough for my gas guzzling Suburban.
