Excitement is growing.

I just booked a flight back to London so I can go to The Daily Telegraph Adventure Travel & Sports Show. January 16-18 in Olympia. There will be more than 250 exhibitors, more than 100 free travel talks, and the thing that interests me the most: Networking!

Wanderlust editors will be available in a special advice theatre, there will be a Wanderlust Connections and Jobshop area as well as an area about job opportunities abroad. They will also have travel writing and photography seminars that I plan on scoping out for future contacts.

Armed with at least 2-3 different kinds of resumes, I’ll be browsing for travel job leads— off the boards. Writing, PR, online mkg, or something I’ve never even done before. On the chance that a desireable opportunity will arise, I want to be ready. it’s better to be prepared while you have someone’s interest, as opposed to saying you’ll email them on Monday and have them meet 200 people after you.

  1. Hi Jen,

Just curious if you are planning to attend the Independant Travelers World show in London Feb 20-22? I was debating whether to go there, or the adventure one in Jan. Know much about either one of them?

    thanks,
    Jeff

  2. Hi Jeff, Thanks for the lead. I had trouble looking that one up. I had heard about it through Sean Keener at BootsnAll, but didn’t know the proper title. I’ll go look it up now and add it to this list.

  3. From their websites, the ITW one looks the best. But I can’t say where in the world I’ll be then. I wanted to go to the Adventure one because I saw the ads in Wanderlust and Global. I didn’t know about the others until I started fishing around.

So, I will go to the Adventure one so I can meet the editors of Wanderlust in person. Ask me again next month about the other one. One might be enough for me. If you do go to the Adventure one, get in touch. I’d be happy to meet up with you. And one of the days I’ll be there with the author of LondonBlog.com.
