Jest: Humor for the Irreverent

I just found this from a submission call on Chicago Craigslist. And oh my gosh it’s funny. Unfortunately, I think some of my funniest friends don’t read this blog so I’ll have to send it to them separately.

Here is the current issue.

Here are two years of back issues to keep us busy. Man, have I been living in a cave!

I laughed at this…Zombie Apocalypse Survival Guide

From the submission guidelines:

“Jest Magazine is a bimonthly yet topical publication featuring current and news-related humor. We are seeking pieces relating to world politics, those documenting trends in society and culture, and those bringing issues to the reader with a completely original spin. In short, we want to draw attention to what is going on in the world through a sophisticated, scathing, and humorous lens. Follow these guidelines at your own peril. Death will occur, obviously, at some point:

Submissions to Jest Magazine should be no more than 1,500 words and should be informative, inspired and most importantly, funny.”

Please send submissions to: submissions@jest.com and include your contact information (first/last name and phone), a short query letter including any prior publications, and a brief synopsis of your piece.

Make sure you read their full guidelines before submitting.

  1. I read up on their past issues. and I cracked up laughing. People around me at work, was really surprised. It is a swell magazine, the likes of which I have rarely seen.
