National Geographic has an immediate opening in Washington DC in Book Publishing for an experienced Editor to identify, acquire, and develop a minimum of 6-8 book properties a year for both Direct Mail and Trade markets, primarily focusing on illustrated reference books and educational topics. Responsibilities also include the development of marketing and publicity materials.

The qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training with at least 8 years of editorial experience. Experience should include managing multiple book projects from conception to completion, with the proven ability to effectively lead a project team. Excellent copy editing skills, strong organizational and management skills, plus experience producing promotional materials required.
