magicjohnson.jpgMagic Johnson has his name on a new home-based travel franchise group that is focusing on African-American, Hispanic and Asian-American customers.

Here is the press release.

Magic Johnson Enterprises Launches Minority Focused, Home-Based Travel Agency

I think an interesting story angle would be about the customers. Who are they and where are they going? A human interest story would be more appealing for me as a reader than just an announcement that a new company had started. That said, this seems like it might make good front of the book material for those looking to break into a travel mag.

  1. Glad to see Magic is still around. Unfortunately his franchise fee is not as competitive as the company I work with, YTB Travel Network. And I’m sure Magic does not guarantee the earnings I will make, YTB does. The also have a Bill of Rights that guarantees the commission I make.

    Check us out!

  2. I am excited to see Majic promoting the home based travel business. I am a referring travel agent with YTB and love this business. It is rewarding, exciting and fun to assist my clients with their travel needs. The piece that is equally rewarding is the fact that I can help non profit organizations achieve their financial goals through travel commissions. Majic if helping non profits is not part of your vision … let’s talk.

    My site is http://www.ytb.com/bonds007

  3. I looked at YTB and I am not impressed with multi-level marketing. While I feel that you can earn a lot of money. The effort that it takes to make it, is too extreme. If me getting paid is dependent upon the success of others, and not just me individually, then I am not interested. This is why I am opting more towards the Magic Johnson Franchise.

  4. I’m really excited about the Home Based Travel industry! I’m also glad that Magic Johnson has shown a major interest in this awesome industry. It makes my business with YTB Travel more credible and validates the opportunity when I talk about this to other possible business partners. Go YTB!!! Go!!

  5. Iam really glad to see all the comments form the people in YTB but what about comments from people in your travel home base business. I am really interested to hear from them

  6. WOW! I tell you, the home based travel business is amazing! I am always happy to see someone doing something positive. Go Majic! YTB has definately shown me that there is a better way to travel and to work! If anyone is interested…you can give me a call and check out my presentation on http://www.feasytravel.biz. I will show you how to get on the road to success and a big Congrats to anyone who has just started their own online travel biz!

  7. I am the owner of a very successful brick and morter travel agency. Magic Johnson fees are out of reach, you are buying his name, I wish that he would concentrate on starbucks and cinemas. Every Pastor is pushing YTB, I wish that they would do what God called them to do, Preach the Gospel, it is scarey to see them pushing travel, travel is not a one shot deal, you only get out of life what you put into it. Clients want service and follow up, how many have the time to follow up. You cannot get rich selling MLM travel programs.

  8. When I first heard about the independent travel agency a little over a year ago, I immediately got excited. Having researched other home-based agencies, I was hoping to become an agent for this franchise because it was minority owned. When I visited the website, I found it was only accepting inquiries. Unfortunately, after several inquiry requests, information was never sent and not one person from the company ever contacted me. The only thing I received was a confirmation e-mail about my inquiry.

I am still interested in becoming an independent travel agent. If anyome from the Magic Johnson franchise can sent me more information or direct me to a functional website, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

  9. Glad to see Majic is in good spirits, as I saw him on the tonight show pushing his travel site…
    Majic, I wish you well!
YTB is the way to travel, without a major investment. YTB is the only Travel franchise, with the rapid growth, and all of the wondeful perks that come with the territory!

  10. I have read the comments that have been posted by so many people regarding the Home Based Travel Industry. I am a RTA (Referring Travel Agent) with YTB, the best home based travel business around.
For the nay-sayers out there, YTB’s marketing & compensation plan are TOPS. I am one of the few who actually plans and books trip and I am doing extremly well without a “DOWNLINE”. I saw the opportunity 4 years ago but thought the same way “NO MLM’s” but when I said yes, last year, and acually saw the many ways to work the business, I was floored. It’s been about a year and I am going for my IMATAN next month.
Let YTB show you the real way it is done. Brick & Morter can not take advantage of commissions from airline companies anymore but we do.
Much success to all and I will see you on the beaches of the world!

  11. I respect Magic for what he\’s doing for the minorities and communities. However, the fee to own your home based business through him is ridiculous. I have found great success with YTB, and encourage anyone that hasn\’t seen it to take a look at my website or email me. http://www.ytb.com/ina36682

  12. TraVerus Travel is the only way to go. I have been in TraVerus for only three months and I am a Regional Executive.

    . Low entry fee
. 13 ways to get paid
. Star power, travel company of the stars
    . Ground floor opportunity
    . 70 to 90 percent commissions

E-mail me if you want more info!

  13. I have been involved in selling travel for years now as an independent agent. I have both my CLIA and IATAN credentials. I went to a YTB presentation a few years back and found it to be like most any other MLM. The people who started it become wealthy and the majority or “referring agents” make little or nothing while expecting major benefits. I will admit that if you work like mad and recruit others who will do the same…. you can make money. Otherwise, you won’t make a lot. And bless Harold’s heart but in order to qualify for an IATAN card, you need to work and average of 20 hours a week in travel related activities and must have made $5,000 in commissions. While that is nothing to sneeze at, that amount of income is not going to support anyone. Travel is not a get rich quick business. It is an incredibly fun and rewarding business that can make you money. However, you need to put as much into it as you expect out of it. The margins are small and most “referring agents” never really learn to market themselves or travel. They hand out a few business cards and hope for the best. From what I have learned, the Magic Johnson group does offer training and support. And it does offer name recognition. He is in it for the money as are most business owners. So, more power to Magic and come on you YTB folks…..that product is certainly not “magic”!

  14. If you are looking for financial freedom with a home based business of your own, look me up. I am willing to pay it forward. I will help you with your start up cost. Very minimal fee for start up already. No new president is going to help you right away, you need to help yourself. Don’t let this recesion get to you anymore. Traverus Travel is the way to go! Let me show you how…
