Who’s the one person that inspires you? The person that motivates and challenges you? Is it a politician, movie star or a writer? For me, that person is Rolf Potts. And if you’re a frequent Written Road reader, you know for Jen Leo that person is award-winning travel writer, Tim Cahill. Over the years, she’s never been shy about how he inspired her into travel writing.

In conjunction with 2006 Travel Writers and Photographers Conference, Book Passage will present a Travel Nights series, featuring travel writers and photographers author events. At this event, Jen and Tim will be in conversation. Just Jen and Tim alone talking on stage. It’s rare to see Tim at an event, so if you’re going to be in the area, this is definitely worth checking out. Tim will also be in conversation with writer, Amy Tan, talking about a “sense of place”.

Nothing is too ridiculous on the road, and as these men and women generously share without shame or undue embarrassment, they prove again and again that a sense of humor is the one tool no traveler should be without.

Cahill stumbles from glacier to geyser; encounters wildlife; muses on the microbiology of thermal pools; sees moonbows arching across waterfalls at midnight and more–all while contemplating the concept and value of wilderness in Yellowstone National Park.
