I’d like to think that I would be this in love with the Pete’s Pond webcam if it wasn’t named Pete. But come on, there’s something special about the name Pete or Peter. Have you ever met one you didn’t like? Now, don’t let me waste your time with nonsense talk—get busy downloading National Geographic’s Pete’s Pond!

If you like watching the fish tank before you go to sleep at Mandalay Bay, you’ll LOVE this webcam of a watering hole in Botswana. The camera does move around to different areas of the pond. I haven’t seen any animals yet, but that’s because I haven’t watched it during peak viewing times—4:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. Botswana time. Right now it’s 3:00p.m. and I’m at 8:00 a.m. Central Time.

OH MY GOSH I just saw a croc!

What did I tell you? This is the coolest thing.

And if you need the instant gratification of seeing animals NOW, check out their video clips. I haven’t done that yet, I’m still waiting to see them LIVE. Oooh, the croc just put it’s head underwater…now, if only a little bird would come to the edge. Here little birdy birdy….

  1. An elephant is taking a drink right now! I love this wildcam!

John, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry but your week in Tahiti is going to be over ruled by an African Safari. 🙂

  2. Now there are a whole bunch of what I think are gazelles!

And there they go. They got their drink, now they’re leaving. I guess they don’t want to get eaten.

    I wonder what’s next…

    Can you tell I’m hooked?

  3. Today I saw ten zebras and a Pumba. Yesterday I saw an elephant, a whole bunch of gazelle-looking animals, and a croc. But it’s the sounds of the birds that is so soothing.

  4. Oh my gosh Jen! This is soooo cool. I saw lots of elephants with a baby and gazelles, and some deer looking things. How do you keep it going? I kept having to start it up again. I want it to play all night while I am sleeping! Nighty nighty, and sweet dreams to you! Jess

  5. This morning, there were about 20ish elephants (four of them were teeny), all splashing and playing in the water and dust. One warthog watched from a distance, a sprinkling of zebras preceeded the elephants, and now there’s a group of eland. And couple of late elephants. What am i doing at a desk?

  6. Damn! And now I’m mad I didn’t watch it this morning!

It’s great that you’re enjoying it, though. I’m telling everyone about it.

    Thanks, ladies!

    🙂

  7. I’m writing up a Yahoo! Pick right now about Pete’s Pond. Will let you know what day it’ll post. Between us, we’ll tell everyone!
