As all travelers know, the journey is about more than the destination. It’s also about how you get there. And in an effort to collect great “getting there” stories, Carrie at BootsnAll’s Business Travel Logue is holding her second-annual travel writing contest. This one’s all about transportation:

Whether it was a nightmare trip taking a donkey train down a dirt road or a fabulous surprise upgrade with all the perks or taking the slow boat to Nusa Lembongan. It does not have to be about business travel in particular, just about the ride. Because as we all know, getting there is part of the adventure.

For a great 300-word story about something transportation-related, one lucky grand prize winner will get a copy of the companion book and CD soundtrack to the “Long Way Down” TV series. That’s the one where actors Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman traveled by motorbike through Africa (as a follow-up to their “Long Way Round” motorbike trip from London to New York), and it’s a fun adventure. Two runners up will get the “Long Way Down” CD soundtrack.

You’ve got the holidays to contemplate your transportation tale, because Carrie is accepting entries until January 31, 2009. And really, it’s only 300 words we’re talking about here, so why not give it a shot? Read more about the Business Travel Logue’s writing contest, and good luck!
