I'm having a high school moment. The one where I didn't read the book but got an “A” on the assigned essay. You know, when you don't study for the test, but pass with flying colors. That's how lucky we were today.

Normally it takes two to three months to book an author event at a bookstore. To have them timed with big events or conventions is like trying to book a wedding at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite.

Today, with only a week before the biggest comedy festival in the world begins, we got a gig for Sand in My Bra. Not just any gig, but one at the downtown Indigo bookstore that is right smack in the middle of things. It’s at the biggest and busiest intersection in Montreal.

All it took was a phone call to the event coordinator. As we talked she looked up the book and saw that it had been selling well since it was released and signed us up right then and there. Krista, Susan and I were able to get a poster, specialized invite post cards, and more TT mkg material into FedEx so she can start letting people know about it. With the “Reading It” comedic show going on at the same time, we’ll need to do all we can to get an audience. That’s my take. The coordinator is confident we’ll get enough people because their location has great foot traffic.

Christine Michaud, author of Chador Etiquette, will also be reading. If you’re around, come on by!
