Creative Escapes, leaders in providing writing and photography holidays (recently even voted by the Guardian as one of the top 5 companies offering writing holidays), has just announced its next writing escape which will take place from 25–28 September in western Norway.

Alongside the fantastic team at Creative Escapes (check out profiles on the About page of their website, they are an incredibly established bunch of people), writer, journalist and editor Susan Grossman will be teaching special seminars in accessing creativity and feature writing. Susan has been a regular contributor to The Times, an editor at Redwood Publishing, a reporter for BBC Radio 4, and a presenter on BBC2.

The Norway Writing Escape is aimed at all levels of writers and covers such fundamentals as finding a hook, picking a theme, coming up with enticing descriptions and creating narrative out of experience. Classroom sessions are supplemented with practical exercises that get students outside trying out classroom theory in the real world, taking advantage of the gorgeous autumn Norwegian landscape. Additionally, each participant gets several 1-on-1 tutorial sessions with a course instructor. The social aspect of the course allows for time outside of class for students to network and kick back with other students and tutors.

When: 25–28 September, 2008.

Where: The Norway creative writing and photography courses will be taught in an alluring fjord-side cottage in the Hardanger region of western Norway.

How much: The course fee of £550 ($1100) covers all tuition, accommodation, full board, materials, excursions and transfers to/from Bergen airport. Students are housed in single-sex rooms with outstanding views out to the fjord and all food is home prepared from local organic food producers.

Written Road Discount: Readers of Written Road will receive 10% off the Norway course fee if they book before August 30.
