We got an email this week unlike any other we've ever received.

It was from our Australian distributor, Tower Books, saying that our shipment of 200 copies of Sand in My Bra was held up on the docks in Sydney. When Customs inspected it they found snakes in the crate.

“We don’t know if they are American snakes or whether they climbed on board somewhere in the South Pacific,” said our rep.

So, they didn’t release it and the Aussies have to wait another week. Funny, eh?

  1. Steve,

I have always loved and watched all your shows, including your recent movie.
I have to tell you and Terri, what you did with this innocent baby was wrong, he did not ‘dig it’,
you are talking about a innocent ‘infant’ baby, Steve and Terri you need to think what you did, This should have never happened, Baby Bob did not have a choice in this stupid show you both chose to put on for all of your ‘fans’…………

  2. We need people like Steve and Terri Irwin. They have made available to the whole world, why we need conservation of all our animals, even the creepy crawley and dangerous ones. I don’t think at any time Steve put his son Bob in any danger. He surely knows his crocs, and how to read them. I guess that would say, when my girls were infants, and I sat them on one of the horses for a picture, that I was being abusive. I think not, I know from experence as does Steve Irwin which ones to use. Steve, I would hate to see you give up your TV show, you have been a great teacher and should continue with your education on conservation. I wonder how many times these same people that are critizing you have driven their child unrestrained in their automobile. Steve, keep up your good work.
    All My Best

  3. I DON’T THINK FOR ONE MINUTE THAT STEVE WOULD HAVE PUT HIS FAMILY IN DANGER.TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE IS NOT TO KNOW HIM

  4. Steve, just would like to say, keep up the good work mate. I love ya work & I,m a mother of 2 & would let you show them “the ropes” from a young age anyday. Only if people understood it would be more dangerous for bob & bindi to be sheltered from our creatures. Knowledge is a good thing. something you have that the people judging you don’t.youre “true blue” & I love your passion. dont let them doubt yourself for a second! Tammy FNQ

  5. I can not even believe that the so called “media” can even suggest that Steve and Terri would do anything that would endanger their son.. As far as having the young lad in his arms while feeding the croc, I would say that perhaps the “MEDIA” should take another look at what Mr. Irwin was doing and the people that I am certian was within a close enough distance, however, out of sight to assist IF a problem had come up.. I have seen him doing all kinds of what the world thinks is crazy, however, if you ( the media ) really knew what was going on there probably would not have been a word said.Maybe all you so called keepers of safe life,, OR what I like to call,,TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS,,GOODIE TWO SHOES,, should get out more often and get life as it was meant to live,, FREE,,AND HAPPY.. Well I am sure that I have insulted someone with this letter. Keep up the great work MR IRWIN, TERRI AND FAMILY..

  6. Just so you all know that this is not an official Steve Irwin web site. Your comments here are only posted to a resource for writers.

  7. they are out to get you I think Steve, you have had the vultures after you since you praised our prime minister recently, I for one agree with your comments about John Howard. Good luck and more power to you.

  8. TO STEVE AND FAMILY IAM 7YRS OLD YOU ARE A LEDGEND HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH YOU HAVE DID NOTHING WRONG MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE BEHIND YOU ,DONT FORGET CROCS RULE..AND SO DOES BINDI AND BOB…COREY BAKER NSW….

  9. Steve, We love you back in the USA! Don’t sweat this overblown media elitest hype. It’s not the first time they have victimized the innocent due to their need for ratings and extreme lack of common sense. For goodness sake, don’t believe this hype is the view of the overwhelming majority back here in the states.

You’re a Croc man.. It’s your life and livelihood. Your kids are a part of that, whether or not anyone likes it. Im not an expert with wild animals, but can they not smell fear? When you’re in a state of panic, instead of control, will you not be in real danger around predatory creatures? You’re exposing your children because you care to keep them safe. It’s not hard to see it for what it is.

When I was youngling, my dad was in the mounted Sheriffs force. We boarded horses on our land as well. As far back as I can remember, I was on and around horses. When I was in 2nd grade, my responsibility was to feed and water all of the horses before school. When I was strong enough to pull a rake, I was in the stalls cleaning. If my dad had not spent time exposing and teaching me about how to behave and interact with horses, I probably would have gotten hurt. I see no difference in your situation.

  10. Obviously the US media once again needed a big story and Steve Irwin just happen to do something that could be twisted easily. Shame on the media!! Neither Steve nor Terri would ever put family, friends or co-workers in harms way. All these so-called “outraged” parents….get a life…take care of your own kids and let the Irwin’s take care of their kids.

  11. Steve!
Great work! I married an Aussie and we visited your great zoo this past May! What a place! We are parents as well and TOTALLY applaud you as a PARENT&FATHER in teaching your children as you have been taught.
Mate, you handled the most ugly, sensationalism-searching media so well! GOODON’YA!
Steve, you totallyu stunned them with your rebuttal of how other kids are raised next to busy, high-speed intersection roadways…wow!
(I believe the reporter was speechless!)
Anyway, keep up your great parenting and we love ya’ and adore you and the family!
    love to Bindy and Bob!

  12. Steve,

Good work !,Its about time someone raised their family on good values and not gutless politicians laws.
Is the nation going to lose their heritage because of what some softy mammas boy with a camera says?

Beware the press, more dangerous than a nile crocodile or a black mamba??

    All the best.

    i am a ozy to

  14. Fine and dandy, you think you’re in control Steve. But what if you lost your footing? Isn’t that just possible? Then what? Are you willing to bet you’re always quicker than them? Even if you’re on your butt and your baby fell out of your hand? Unintentionally many children are lost in accidents of all sorts. Is it worth it to be “right” at the cost of your month old baby? You’d have a lifetime to beat yourself up for it. That said, I’m not crucifying you, just focusing some light on the subject, because I would hate to see you ever have to live with that possibility.

  15. Dear,Steve,Terry,Bindi and Bob.

All of you four are a beautifyl bunch of a family.

I love animals as much as you have I’ve been making my own videos clips to.I’ve held and handled All different species of animals in my life to. 19. I awoke to a phone call at 6am to hear that a beloved character has fallen. Even though I never met Steve or his family we have been right there with them through the years. Now here on my son’s 7th birthday my heart breaks. I was a few months pregnant when Terri had their daughter. So I got to watch my son and her daughter grow even though it was through the TV. Then there was baby “Bob,” I was also pregnant when Terri had her second child, this would also be my second pregnancy. Even when it seemed the whole world was aganist Steve we, those who understood what he did, all knew he was not being careless with his son’s life. All of here loved Steve for his enthusiasim for live love and the pursuit of animal protection, and education. My heart goes out to Steve’s dad who has had to watch not only his wife pass but now his son as well. Also to Terri and the kids, I am so sorry for you loss, being a military wife I know how a death of a loved one can hurt so bad. We send all our love to Steve’s family and friends.

  20. Sorry to have to say this, but, the animal kingdom simply got tired of Steve’s crap. Using them for his show, and no residuals.

  21. Dear Terri, I am in Johannesburg South Africa and am totally shocked by Steve’s untimely death. I think he was one of the worlds most beautiful souls. His caring and passion for creatures great ans small made him one in a million. Like some of the other comments here, he died doing what he loved the most but it a huge tragedy for your family and the world at large. I wish you and your children strength and love during this terrible time.
    Regards

  22. Steve has recently passed away from a stingray. He has left his loving family although he died with the animals he loved and cared for.
I feel Steve should be remembered as the man who loved animals and did everything in his powers to protect them.
    Best wishes to the family

  23. Dear Irwin Family.

I live in Scotland, and early this mornig i heard the terrible news. I am so sorry for your loss, for all of our losses. Steve was a great man. 24. hi,been trying to find out how to contact terri by e-mail to express how truly saddened and upset we all are at the great loss of a truely remarkable man. people like this come round once in a lifetime, and it wouldn hurt if more people took a leaf out of steves book ,instead of taking one of our greatest treasures for granted( NATURE)

  25. to add to my previous notes, to do a job, that one really enjoys and cant wait for the day to start is truely a rare occurance? steve (even) though i did not know him was one of these people. you could see it on evey proramme he did? a true inspiration and a sad reminder to everyone that nature however beautiful and(-dangerous-) is something that should always be protected and even more so be RESPECTED….WE WILL MISS YOU STEVE.. GOD BLESS?

  26. im Cemal from Turkey.
I was very sad to hear that bad news. We always watched his adventures. He was a great man. Very sorry for his family too.

  27. Dear Irwin Family!
I’m from Moscow (Russia), working in Moscow Zoo as zoologist. Please accept our deepest sympathy with this terrible tragic! I always admired Steve’s work, wishing to be like him. He was the most wonderful zoologist, feeling and understanding the animals he handled. It’s the saddest day for all of us, for our entire Planet (what I can say for sure by looking through the massages which were left by other Steve’s admires all over the World).

P.S. Wes, we know Steve was special to you and we cannot help to think you especially along with Terri and the kids. God Bless You All.

  34. I and my friends are deeply saddened by Steve Irwin’s really tragic death. I know he would feel no illwill towards the stingray that took his life, but I’m glad that ray does not have to feel the deep loss in the world of a person of such great passion. A person, in my opinion, who has changed the way we live our lives, who has made the world not seem so menacing, a protector of animals and because of that a protector of mankind.
My deepest sympathies go out to his family who have, of course, lost way more than we have.
And to all the animals of the earth, who were his charge.

The entire Irwin family is in my prayers.

  37. We are overtaked and shocked with terrible news and commiserate with family.Steve you are Legend. With great sorrow in heart

  38. Hey my name is Ken from Mountain home, idaho and i just wanted to say that I’m sorry to the family of Steve Irwen, I’ve watched his shows and remembering every single one of them brings tears to my eyes, he was brave and always said “Crikey!” he had a good sense of humar and I’m just really upset and shocked by all this i don’t want to believe it’s true. My mom told me ’cause she saw it on the news and i was like. “Oh steve up to one of his crazy aventures again.” but when i looked down at the bottom it said he died and i just laid back holding my heart and shaking my head. All i could say was “This is NOT real you gotta be mistaken, our Steve from Animal planet didn’t die did he?!” I was just heart broken by the news… and again to the family of Steve I am deeply sorry for your loss because it was ours too, we loved him but we know you loved him more. And to his little girls, Grow up learn about your daddy and maybe follow in his foot steps. I LOVE YOU STEVE AND I’LL NEVER FORGET YOU.

    -Ken

  39. I am from India. I am shocked beyond belief to hear this morning that our dear Steve Irwin is no longer with us. I am sure millions of viewers all over the world are feeling the same way. Steve has taught many of us how not to fear the animals but to love and take care of them. His croc shows were particularly breathtaking and at the same time funny to make you laugh at the way he presented his shows. Steve’s memory is too vivid in my imagination! My sincere condolences to Terry and to the two little ones who lost their dad at such a young age !

  40. you are the best, there will be no one in the world who will ever do anything like you always do.
    i really gonna miss you.
i hope you are in heaven now.

    we love you.
    R.I.P

  41. As an Australian I can say we sure have lost one top aussie bloke. God bless you and your family and I just hope that you had made a decision for christ in your life time before you passed away that way I can meet you in heaven 🙂

My heart, prayers and love goes out to Terri, Bindy and Bob.

    God bless.

  42. You could find no other person like Steve Irwin; he is a one in a million. He could do no wrong to the animals of the world, when ever the animals of the wildlife are hurt or in trouble Steve and his crew would be there to help and now he have gone to a better place, your spirit will be with your family and with every animal on this earth. Steve Irwin I will not say good bye but I will say good night and sleep tight my friend. PS Steve Irwin the man with a golden heart.

  43. I was outside of my school and heard 3 people going past talking about Steves death.I thought it was a huge rumour until i hopped in the car and mum told me, i was so devestated! My friends and i could not stop talking about what happenso we decided to hav a Steve Irwin day where you bring how ever much money you want where it will all go to the Australia Zoo.

  44. Dear Iriwn Family
I heard about this news 4 1/2 hours after it happened.. I was devastated… I wish you all the best for the years to come, Bindi never give up your Dad was a great guy I know its hard losing your dad when your only 8, I got through it, it is hard when they have a Fathers day store at school and everyone rushes down to buy something and you are left alone to sit by yourself… Bob, you may not understand me now but you dad will always be remembered with a smile, and a big one… Let me asure you I have visisted Australia Zoo I while ago and I saw your Dad preform with the crocs, snakes, tigers and birds let me just say it was the highlight of the day… Terry, pull through it, you had a great husband who was a AMAZING man who put smiles on faces of millions every single day…

    Best of Luck,
    Rebecca

  45. Hey im Timmy from Denver, Colorado.. And im terribly sorry about Steve Irwins death. I didn’t believe it at first but then when i came online i saw it everywere. Steve always had a good scence of humour and was always very happy. Steve is my idol and will continue to be my idol until i die. I wish You and your family the BEST time ever. And im truly sorry about his death. i dont know what to say. it was the most shocking thing i have ever heard. Steve is loved so much by everyone in my family. And that will never change.Steve is the best.
    R.I.P steve.

  46. Steve was the greatest man on earth and to see him die made me sick in my stomache. Steve why did you have to swim over the stingray. Because of that stingray, you are dead and it’s sad to see steve leave Terri,Bindi and Bob to stay alone without you. At one point I stopped watching your tv show and now I regret that. I am so sorry that you died that I wish it was me enstead of you. Terri do you think you will marry again? Also Terri, are you still going to help save crocodiles without Steve? Also where was Steve Buried so I can go there and bring lots and lots of flowers for him since I know alot about Steve.

  47. Steve grasped his life by both hands and had a close relationship with nature. His passion for wildlife, shared by millions, transcended barriers between human beings. In the end, nature took him back and now the world misses a good man.

  48. terri if u ever read this i just want u to know i’m sorry abut what happened to steve he was a good man and me and my friends all cryed when we heard what happend i live down in the usa and my dream was to meet him and now i’ll never get to just hope u can tell me about him somtime mabey it will make u feel better to let it all out.

    -jummunji

  49. To Terri, Bindi, Baby Bob, and to all of Steve’s extended wildlife family,
I’m a writer in Florida who can’t find the words tonight to adequately express my heartfelt sorrow at the loss of your beloved Steve. What an amazing character and an inspiration to us all!
He lived his life full-tilt with such purity and enthusiam that is rare among men. Please find strength in knowing his imprint on the world will continue to loom large for generations to come. My column next month will be devoted to him and to the lessons we can learn from this fallen hero. Pz~

  50. Steve I miss you soo much i still remember last year at the australia zoo when I met you and your gawjuss daughter bindi.it is so sad to see your old documentries and shows and even pictures because it upsets me so much to know you are now gone for ever our country loved you
and australia misses you with all their hearts. on monday when my mum came home she told me that you had died and it made me soooooooooooo upset i feel so sorry for bindi, terri and bob for loosing you right after fathers day. I know that you probly wouldent want a state funeral but australia wuld like it but your family probly doesent want that because your dad already said that you wouldent. Australia loves you forever and
you can tell by the thousands of flowers buliding up at australia zoo. i miss you steve and you will always be my hero…

  51. steve u will always be in everyones hearts and hopefully ur son bob will continue to learn about animals and be like u when he grows up. terri don’t let the flame die out keep the croc hunters son educated with animals and continue to fight for animal lives.

  52. steve might not be with u but u should still fight for animal conservation don’t stop just becuz hes gone keep strong cry a little and don’t give up the fight for animals. wild animals will miss him to now they only have u to protect them from danger of being shot.

  53. Steve was a great complement to human-kind, and will be missed dearly. I myself viewed him as my hero ever since I saw his show in 1996. His memory will live on in all of us for generations to come. My heart and prayers go out to Terri, Bindi, Bob, Wes, and many others.

  54. I know that Steve Irwin wouldn’t put his family in any danger at all. He would use his own body and soul as a shield to protect his family so when people got mad that he held his son Bob while feeding a croc I suggest they go jump off a bridge. Steve was very hurt how people got mad at him and who can blame him? Steve would never hurt his son in any way. You people who think what he did was stupid obviously don’t know him well enough. Steve is a loving, caring, man who should be treated with respect. And if you’re ever in a tough situation think this. WWSID? What Would Steve Irwin Do?

  55. Steve Irwin you will always be in my heart. Steve Irwans family must be devistated with the tradjic death. The hole united states will miss him. i know Steve would never put any one in danger as long as he lived. his son will grow up not knowing more than beond famous dad.
